Rapunzel

Here is our Rapunzel.  She bears a striking resemblance to the Rapunzel of Grimm's fairy tale, just look at her hair.  However, unlike her antiquated namesake - she is adventurous and ready to travel, a truly modern member of the sisterhood of spunky females.  She is undaunted by any ordeal and greets each challenge with energy and grit (and with
the help of her sister, Gwenda, of course).
Her entertaining story can be read below.

Rapunzel
The modern story of Rapunzel as discovered in Renovated Fairy Tales

Not so long ago, an out of work beautician named Rapunzel was living with her sister, Gwenda, in a very tall apartment building in Seattle, Washington.  In addition to being a computer techie, Gwenda was an expert rock climber.  Climbing was her hobby and her sport and she was good at it.  Since Rapunzel was unemployed at the time, she stayed home and did all the cooking and cleaning while Gwenda went to work each day.  There is one odd fact about Rapunzel that is worth mentioning.  She had long hair - very, very, very long hair.  It was so long that it was extremely difficult to care for - to comb, to brush, to style, and to wash.  There was so much of it that it was almost impossible to arrange in any way at all.
One day on her way out to work, Gwenda pushed the "down" button for the elevator.  Nothing happened.  The elevator was broken.  Repair men were called in.  They scrambled all over the building trying to fix it but didn't succeed.  While the tenants waited patiently day after day for the elevator to be repaired, they had to climb up and down the stairs to and from their apartments.  Gwenda and Rapunzel lived on the top floor - twenty stories up! It was a long, tiresome climb for Gwenda when she returned home from work each day.
One evening Rapunzel was braiding her hair while she and Gwenda watched television together.  During a commercial, Gwenda asked her to throw her braid out of the window just to see how far down it would go.  Much to their surprise the braid easily reached the sidewalk!!  This gave Gwenda an idea.  She explained to Rapunzel how they might make use of her long braid in a new and unusual way.

The next day when Gwenda came home from work she yelled, "Rapunzel!!  Rapunzel!! Let down you hair."  Down came the braid!  To the amazement of the other tenants and passersby, Gwenda climbed right up Rapunzel's hair, through the window and into their apartment - twenty stories up!  She used her climbing gear, naturally.  They did this for a week and it became easier and easier for Gwenda to climb up the twenty stories and into the apartment.  Everyone was fascinated by the sisters' amazing and daring feat.  The only problem was that the constant climbing, pulling, and tugging seemed to stimulate the growth of Rapunzel's hair.  It was growing at an alarmingly fast rate (if you can believe it)!  The situation started Gwenda thinking again.  Then she came up with another idea that would change their lives forever!  The plan was to travel all over the world to cities with very tall buildings (skyscrapers).  Rapunzel would go to the top (using the elevator), throw her hair down, and Gwenda would climb to the top of the building using only Rapunzel's hair!
They would become famous celebrities and be rich, too!

They began in New York City with Gwenda climbing up the Empire State Building under intense media coverage.  Next they traveled to Chicago, then San Francisco, and even to Paris - the Eiffel Tower!!  They became very, very famous!  They were known as the Hair's to the Top Act.  They were on television and a Hollywood producer even decided to make a movie about them.

There was just one problem!  Rapunzel hair!!  It had grown so long that she needed two full time attendants traveling behind her with a wheeled cart to transport and care for her hair.  It now weighed almost one hundred fifty pounds and was fifteen hundred feet long!  When coiled on top of her head it was forty feet high and she needed a helicopter with cables to hold it up!  Brushing and braiding it took twelve days.  Shampooing and drying it took over two weeks (and they had to rent a car wash)!  There was also a problem with birds and flies and other creatures nesting in it.  And then there was dandruff, split ends, etc., to deal with not to mention trying to enter anyplace through a doorway or going to a movie or a restaurant.  Both girls were getting very tired of the constant travel and notoriety, especially Rapunzel.  Once more Gwenda saved the day with another inspired plan!

They would cut Rapunzel's hair and start a new business - Rapunzel's Magnificent Wigs, Inc.
Rapunzel, who after all was a beautician, would style and color the wigs.  Gwenda would sell them in their very chic boutique and on the internet!  Once again, the girls were a huge success!  They became millionaires  and lived happily ever after in true Fairy Tale fashion.
